Dr. Anthony P. Scriffignano, DVM

Dr. Anthony P. Scriffignano was born in Newark, NJ. He obtained his undergraduate degree from St. Peter’s college in Jersey City, NJ. Dr. Scriffignano then went on to receive his Doctorate of Veterinary medicine in 1976 from the University of Parma, Italy. “Dr. Scriff,” as he is known, began his own practice, converting what was once a real estate office to what is now the Verona Animal Hospital. In 1985, Dr. Scriff purchased the Montclair Animal Hospital, adding a second location to his practice.

In his veterinary practice, Dr. Scriff has a special love for surgery, endoscopic procedures, ultrasound and a strong interest in training and behavior. He has been on the Executive Board of the Zoological Society of New Jersey, and is currently an Honorary Trustee.

Dr. Scriff has three children, Marisa, Marla and Paul and 4 grandchildren His four legged family includes his rescue, Bella, and his cat Copper. His other outside interests include Ju Jitsu (He has held a black belt since 1968), motorcycles, cars and high performance driving.

Dr. Colette Brazer, DVM

Dr. Brazer began at the Verona Animal Hospital as a technician in 2000. Her love for all animals had led her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She graduated both undergraduate and veterinary school from Tufts University in Massachusetts. After veterinary school, she proceeded to complete a one year, small animal and surgery internship program at Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus, New Jersey. Dr. Brazer then returned to the Verona Animal Hospital as a doctor in 2006.

Dr. Brazer has tremendous compassion for her patients and their owners. She is an integrative doctor– incorporating both traditional and western practices. In 2010 she completed the acupuncture course at the Chi Institute of Chinese Medicine, and provides acupuncture and herbal medicine services at the Verona Animal Hospital. The incorporation of Chinese medicine to our practice has helped numerous patients, especially those with orthopedic and spinal ailments.

Dr. Brazer and her husband, Jeff, are blessed with two beautiful boys, Caleb, 8 and Amani, 6. Their family also consists of their rescue dogs Annie and Penny. Growing up, Dr. Brazer had the opportunity to live in many different countries throughout the world which sparked her love for travel and adventure. She loves playing sports with her boys, walks with her dogs, and bowling in a summer league.

Dr. Rebecca Stock, DVM

Dr. Rebecca Stock was raised on a small farm in rural upstate New York. Her love for animals was cultivated by this experience, which lead her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She received a BS in biomedical engineering at the University of Rochester in upstate New York before going on to veterinary school. Dr. Stock graduated veterinary school at Iowa State University with honors in 2011. She also completed a small animal internship at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in New Jersey.

In veterinary practice, Dr. Stock particularly enjoys soft tissue surgery. Surgery is made safer and pets have a quicker recovery using a variety of specialized equipment, such as laser and laparoscopy, which Verona and Montclair are fortunate to have.

When attending veterinary school in Iowa, Dr. Stock rescued her Papillion mix, “Tucker” and her cat, “Digby”. “Stella” joined the family in 2014 from a German Shepherd breed rescue. Stella was a handful as a young adult, but has excelled in obedience training and competition. Stella and Dr. Stock currently train and complete in AKC and UKI agility. “Callie” is the most recent addition to the family and was a foster failure kitten.

Dr. Stock continues to help her parents at their farm doing various tasks for them such as bailing hay, and riding her horse “Tulsa”. In her spare time, Dr. Stock enjoys hiking, Dressage, skiing (both cross country and downhill), kayaking, cooking, baking, and running.

Diana Medina

Diana has been with us since 2004 and is the Operations Manager and Head Technician of our back Hospital staff. Diana trains our Assistants and Technicians to provide your pet with the highest quality medical care in a manner that is as caring as they would treat their own pets. From toenail trims to assisting our Veterinarians in the Operating Room, Diana oversees and assists in every area of your pet’s care.

Our Client Care staff in our reception area is comprised of caring individuals with a passion for pets – they book and confirm appointments, maintain pet health charts, help answer your questions, convey information to and from doctors, and ensure you and your pet’s experience at Verona & Montclair Animal Hospitals exceeds your expectations.

Our Hospital Technicians

In the veterinary field technicians are actually comparable to nurses.
Behind the scenes, our veterinary technicians and assistants do most of the hands on care of the pets, assisting our doctors in surgery, in the exam rooms, and while performing tests. They are highly trained and, like our doctors, combine technical skills with compassion and warmth when treating your pet.

Our ratio of technicians to doctor is four to one. This is much higher than the average and XXXXXXX
